9-11, EMERGENCY SOME WILL SAY,
BUT NO ONE WILL FORGET THAT SEPTEMBER DAY.
WHEN THE NATION WAS DELIVERED
SUCH A VIOLENT BLOW,
WHEN THE STRONGEST PEOPLE AND THE BRAVEST
SOULS RISKED THEIR LIVES TO GO BELOW.
THE CRASHING TOWERS FALLING DOWN
SPREADING SADNESS ALL AROUND.
WE FELT BRAVERY FOR THOSE WHO KNEW THE COST,
AND WE FELT SADNESS
FOR ALL THE ONES WE HAD LOST.
BUT OUT OF THE RUBBLE ROSE WINGS OF HOPE
MAYBE SOMEDAY WE WILL ALL BE ABLE TO COPE.
BUT UNTIL THAT DAY WE ALL WILL GRIEVE AND
DEAL WITH A MEMORY THAT WILL NEVER LEAVE.
FOR OUR ANSWERS WE TOOK TO THE HEAVENS AND
DEALT WITH THE PAIN OF SEPTEMBER 11TH.
A FLAG OF HONOR, A FLAG FOR REFLECTION
IT STANDS FOR US ALL UNITING OUR NATION
IT WILL KEEP IN OUR MINDS THIS TRAGIC DAY,
MEMORIES OF SUCH HEROIC ACTS SHALL NOT GO AWAY.
AS WE LOOK ON THIS FLAG OF CLOTH AND THREAD,
A FIELD OF BRIGHT RED FOR THE BLOOD THAT WAS SHED,
NOT JUST ON THIS DAY OF LASTING MEMORIES,
BUT FOR LIVES THAT WERE GIVEN THRU OUT HISTORY.
TWO TOWERS OF STRENGTH THAT ROSE UP SO HIGH
REACHING FOR DREAMS, THEY STRETCHED TO THE SKY.
THEY LAY NOW IN RUIN AT THE HANDS OF HATE,
GREAT SYMBOLS OF OUR NATION HAVE MET THIS FATE.
OUR NATIONS MILITARY HOUSED IN A FORTRESS OF STEEL.
WE'RE REMINDED THIS DAY THAT WAR IS SO REAL.
HITTING THE HEART OF OUR POWER AND MIGHT,
SO RISE UP AMERICA
THIS TERROR WE MUST FIGHT.
THANK YOU CONNIE FOR YOUR HEART IN WRITING THESE POEMS FOR ALL TO READ AND REMEMBER...THE SORROW, THE COMPASSION...
THE REMINDER OF THIS DAY THAT WAS FELT IN CONNIE'S HEART DESERVES TO BE PUBLISHED AGAIN AND AGAIN AS A REMINDER TO US ALL!
BELOW ARE COMMENTS FROM SOME OF OUR FOXYS IN SEPT, 2012, AS TO WHERE THEY WERE AND WHAT THEY WERE DOING DURING THIS HORRIBLE, LIFE CHANGING TRAGEDY THAT HAPPENED 9/11/2001.
I was home when 911 occurred. Was doing some cross stitch, and had the television on. I was home alone, and cried my heart out, when I realized what was happening. What a sad waste of so many lives. God Bless the families, who I am sure are still and will always suffer from their losses.

I remember well where I was! I was on Duke University campus with my mom and brother and sister-in-law. My mom was there for hyper oxidation treatments for 7 weeks. My brother had driven down for the week-end and was leaving that a.m. to go back to Virginia...They had friends that worked in the tower and in fact one federal secret agent who was at their wedding was killed. They had no phone service all the way back and so startled to learn of his death. I honor all the firemen and workers who bravely gave their lives that day. God bless all those families who lost their loved ones that awful Sept 11th.

Well I was 12 at the time and I can still see my Da' and mom looking at the tv and shaking their heads in amazement. It effected me Da more as him and his friends worked on that building with local 3 of NY. He called them immediately and told them to turn on television for the World Trade Center was going down. They laughed thought he was joking that building was built strong. I saw tears in me Da's eyes he felt for the people and the building that was NY.
As for me I was tending our Miniature Horses as we had just returned from a Horse Show the night before. Mom called me in to watch said this was the beginning of a terrible time for America.
She called our home in the Mountains as Brigg and Mike were there for the holiday weekend with Anthony and Cara. Told them to watch she was just glad that Mike and Brigg had went to the mountains. She then called Elenora to see if she was okay and Cris as they were in NY for a Concert I know she was worried cause the lines were so jammed she couldn't get through. It was a terrible time as many of Mike and Briggs friends and business associates were involved in that area of NY.
I remember weeks after the many condolence cards and flowers that were sent out on behalf of family. Mike and Brigg attended so many funerals that they finally gave up trying to attend all. John contacted us that Cris and Elenora were fine and staying with him for awhile.

I was in my kitchen cooking breakfast as my husband had just came in from working a 12 hour shift and he had just went in to lie down till breakfast was ready when the news flash came across the first time as the 1st plane had hit the towers. I yelled for my husband to get up as I was not sure what was going on or if we would be next and then the 2nd plane hit. This is a day that I will never forget nor will America.

At the time of 9-11 my brothers and I were living with our mom in Barbados. My youngest brother and I had the tv on while he got ready for work. The program we'd been watching suddenly switched over to CNN. At that time only a few people had cable, and for really big breaking news the station cut in with CNN. I remember watching the first tower on fire and suddenly seeing the second plane turning into it. I called to my brother to come see the plane flying "too low". We watched in horror as it slammed into the second tower. My first thought was OMG. Second thought was about my childhood friend that worked in one of those towers. I frantically called his mom to find out if she'd heard from him and she hadn't. She'd also seen the news and had been trying to call him with no success. She hadn't been able to reach her daughter either. It was much later that afternoon when he was finally able to reach her. They were both ok. For some reason he too decided not to go to work that day and had been at his sister's house in Brooklyn. They were both unable to make outside calls. I sat glued to the news as long as they kept it on and remember being so upset that people could be so cruel. All those innocent lives lost. So many thoughts ran through my head but the most nagging one was the safety of their souls. I eventually turned the tv off and started to pray for their families and for anyone involved in the rescue efforts. Don't think I will ever forget the image of the second tower being hit.

I was attending Apex technical school when the tragedy occured. We were in the middle of class when someone came in with the news that a plane had crashed into one of the towers. Planes were always flying too low so we just thought it was a small plane accident. About a minute later someone else came in with the news that it was terrorists. Classes were cancelled and we were told to get out of the city. School was at an angle kind of across from the towers. By the time we got outside the second plane had struck and there was complete chaos. Some of us thought about taking the train but were told they'd stopped running. Traffic was at a standstill and we wondered how in the world we were going to get home. A couple of us started walking and about 2 or 3 blocks up there was a bus. I asked where it was going and the driver said to Brooklyn. At that point I didn't care what part of Brooklyn but it so happened to be going to my street. We got on and sat on the bus for what seemed like hours going nowhere. The police weren't letting any traffic go anywhere. Eventually they let only the bus go and I'm not sure what made us look back but we did in time to see the towers half way collapsed and dust flying everywhere. It was strange going over the bridge and not seeing the towers. I remember the extreme heat and panic and thanked God to be alive. My wife at the time (she passed away later) was supposed to work that day but decided not to go. This is a person who never missed work. She was very sensitive in spirit and listened to that nagging feeling she got. To this day it's still one of the most horrible experiences and I still remember the chaos, heat and dust everywhere.

I was at work and had just come out of a meeting, when the receptionist stopped me and said that my son was on the line. I took the call from the phone in the lobby, and it was Pat, my middle son. He was at work as well and called to tell me that one of the Twin Towers had been hit by a plane. I thought he was kidding because he is such a jokester. So I asked him what the punch line was. He said there was none, that this was true...the thought that went through my mind was, oh no, a plane must have gotten off course or was out of control. I was a little shook to think that such a thing could happen, but they were tall buildings.
About 15 minutes later he called again and said a second plane had just struck the other tower...my heart fell out! This was no accident! I went to the Executive Director's office to see if he knew anything and he said he just saw it on TV and he was really shook! From there emails started flying...phones rang off the walls. I still have a copy of all the emails, news reports from CNN and such, newspapers, magazines of that horrible day of September 11, 2001.
A DAY WE MUST NEVER FORGET!
