written by Keylalah

August is upon us, school is about to begin, vacations are ending, and Foxysden is fast approaching their 3rd Anniversary as a League!

We have added new games to the list and have updated others.
We are making plans now, for the October Anniversary Celebration!
We have gained many new members into Foxysden! Please welcome them and show them the love, sharing, caring, and friendship that Foxyden members have for one another!
Welcome aboard!
Relax and enjoy your new family!

Foxysden is paying tribute to the 50s and 60s this month!
A request went out to submit the one thing that you remember about the 50s and 60s that you will never forget. If you were not born during the baby boom era, write something about what you were told, or learned that was eventful during that time.
Below are some of the entries...and I must say, a job well done!

I was born in the latter part of 1972 but feel as strong connection with all the music of that time was greatly influenced by its predecessors especially artists like buddy holly, chuck berry, the big bopper Richardson. My favorite song of the 50’s would have to be Ritchie Valen’s "Donna" because he wrote from personal experience about his girlfriend. I believe to be considered a memorable artist in today’s world you have to take inspiration from at least one artist from the past.

There is no way I can tell you all that took place in my life in the fifties..I was there for all the newest rock and roll songs, Elvis was the biggest of course, the drifters, mama & papas and it was the wildest thing to hit in music for awhile. I learned to dance in a p/e class in high school and one of the first real shaggers at Carolina beach. It was a poodle skirt, bepop shoes and loafers, silk ties around the collar or on a sweater. I met my first real love, and he went to the major leagues, and I met my hubby in that era also,(shall I say my 2nd love and the father of 4 kids). It was baseball, music and a youth that one could only be jealous of. We lived in the era of American Bandstand and I was actually on a regional version of it dancing! Oh what a life I did live back then!

Those were good years. Vern and I graduated in June of 55. We were married in August of 57 after going together 6 years. Our first child was born in 59, and lived only a month. Our second (Lynda) was born in 60, and has been such a blessing in our lives. Our third, (Jim) we adopted, after losing a set of twins. We love him as much as any of our children. Our third, (Dan) was born in 66. He also has done well, and is close by for us.

I REMEMBER ELVIS PRESLEY BEING ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW IN 1956 FOR HIS DEBUT.

I can remember when my mom used to tell us about the riots in the late 60s. Her school did not have their prom because of the rioting. She would tell of her teacher named Mr Coppolla, who lowered her and the classmates out the window and told them to go straight home because of rioting in the school. She also told of her mom and her standing on the porch and seeing smoke downtown where the rioters were burning trenton, NJ, and my uncle coming and getting mom and grandma and taking them to the mountains till it was over.

I also remember mom telling us about going to the station to watch Kennedy's casket go thru Trenton on the train. She was in the library at school when Former President Kennedy was shot. Grandma and mom stood for 4 hours to go through the rotunda to view his casket.
She always felt that these memories needed to be passed on.

There were many things that I remember during the baby boom era. My youth and teenage years were during the 50s and 60s. The one most special thing I remember about that time was my first kiss! Rocky was his name. He invited me to a hayride in October. I remember we had so much fun with everyone there. Telling stories, drinking cider and eating hotdogs around a huge bond fire. The tractor came with a couple of trailers loaded with hay and we all jumped on board for the night time ride through the woods and the meadows. When the hayride was over, we jumped off and I went over and stood by a big tree, watching the crowd. All of a sudden, Rocky swung around the tree and kissed me! WOW...I could not feel the ground...I was floating on cloud 9! Oh to have those days back again....

MY FRIENDS

IN THIS TIME OF HARDSHIP AND ILLNESS

MANY ARE FEELING THE DISAPPOINTMENTS OF LIFE
JUST THINK FOR A MINUTE, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WORSE OFF THEN YOU.

YOUR DOWN BUT NOT OUT AS LONG AS YOU LIFT YOUR HEART AND EYES TO THE WONDERS AROUND YOU AND THE BLESSINGS YOU HAVE.

WE HAVE MANY BLESSINGS...GOOD FRIENDS, GOOD TIMES, AND GOOD FAMILY TO BRIGHTEN OUR DAYS
SO REJOICE IN WHAT WE DO HAVE. DON'T DWELL ON WHAT WE DON'T... CAUSE IN THE LONG RUN ITS NOT WHAT WE WANT, ITS WHAT WE HAVE THAT'S IMPORTANT.

The League has 2 new games that have been added to the list. We are working on getting the rooms for these games this week. Your help would be greatly appreciated. We have 6 dedicated hosts who hold a total of 42 tours for your enjoyment. The newest games we have added are Sci-Fi Slots and Casino Island Blackjack. We have dropped Blackjack Carnival, and have upgraded Texas Holdem Poker and 6th Streat Omaha Poker.

At the end of August we will be having our QUARTERLY AUGUST MARATHON! There will be much to do in the preparation of this event. We are excited about what we have in store for you! Keep watching for more information!

October is our 3rd year Anniversary for FOXYSDEN LEAGUE! The staff have been working on making this 3rd Anniversary the best yet! If you have suggestions or ideas to help us out, please send your ideas to Cris or myself and we will consider them.

A couple of things Cris and I would like to bring to your attention
Please make sure to read the League Rules that can be found on the backdoor page at the top. These rules are being enforced, so it would be strongly suggested that you know what they are.
We ask that, before you play in a tour, that you go to the backdoor and click the game rules. This will save the host a lot of time having to explain what level, how to play, and other questions that come up at tour time. Understand that Cris and I are working on the rules and not all are in there yet, but will be soon. So please, utilize the special things we make available to the League.
Cris has been working very hard to get "Easy Ways" to get information on most frequent questions. This information will be on our web site. If there are things you would like to see there that will help the family members, please let him know and he will consider it.

We are going to add a new feature to the Newsletter. This is a way to know members of the Foxyden family better. Each month we will be interviewing a member of the League. So be prepared
The Lucky Person to be interviewed this month is....me! So here we go....

WHAT STATE DO YOU LIVE IN?
I live in the state of Ohio.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
I am the Co-HA of Foxysden, a 61 year old mother of 3 grown boys and grandma of 8 grandchildren ages 18 months to 17 years, 4 cats, and a Boston Terrier. I love to read, love music, and love to be out in God's nature!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE POGO GAMES?
Thanks to Cris, my favorite game is Poker of all kinds. Other favorites are Gin, Euchre and Golf Solitaire.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MALL ITEMS?
The pets are my most favorite. I really like the Gem Backgrounds as well.

OUTSIDE OF POGO, WHAT MOVIES ARE YOUR FAVORITES?
I love Fantasy, Mystical, Sci-Fi type movies. So I would have to say Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter Series, the Highlander Series, Twilight Series, and the series "Angel".

WHAT BOOKS ARE YOUR FAVORITE
Again, I like the fantasy type books, so the Shannara Series, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, anything in that catagory.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF THE LEAGUE AND POGO?
I enjoy nature. I love to walk in the woods, love flowers, enjoy my pets, and so love being beside water. It has such a calming sensation to me. I can write and do a lot of thinking when i am close to water, hearing the water lap the sides and a fish jump every once in a while.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS?
Yes, I have 4 cats whose names are Baghera, Tippy, Jana, and my favorite buddy, Heo. We just got a Boston Terrier a couple of weeks ago who also is a joy. His name is Auggy.

IF YOU HAD AS MUCH MONEY AS YOU DO TOKENS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT?
Wow...well...I would pay off all my bills, buy a smaller home for me, and the rest I would use to help others in need.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE RECIPE?
I have one favorite recipe that has been a hit wherever I take it. My youngest son, Josh, created it and it is fantastic for outings, and quick to make.
The ingredients you need are
1 lb of lean ground beef (do not drain after cooking)
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 Jalopania, veined and diced
2 packages of Phillidelphia Creamed Cheese (make sure it is the good stuff!)
1 can Rottel diced tomatoes with green chilis (drain juices)
(We like lots of tomatoes, so we use different types of tomatoes)
1 can diced green chilis
Your favorite Salsa (The fresher, the better)
In a medium sized skillet, saute your minced garlic and jalopinias with some Olive Oil. Stir till garlic turns brown.
Then add the hamburger. Brown the beef on low.
In a sauce Pan, add the 2 packages of Creamed Cheese. Strain the diced tomatoes and chilis and add to the Creamed Cheese.
Melt the Creamed Cheese mixture then add to the browned hamburger mixture. (Remember - do not drain the grease!)
Stir occassionally until all is well cooked.
Then add your favorite Salsa (Remember, the fresher the better)
Serve warm with your favorite dipping chips. It makes great sandwich spread, toppings for hot dogs or hamburgers, or just in a bowl by itself to enjoy!
Scrumpdillyicious!

Cris and I would like to wish you a safe and Blessed month.
HAPPY TOURING!
