FOXYSDEN LEAGUE NEWSLETTER
written by Keylalah
The staff of Foxysden League would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for each and every one of you! Without you this league would not be what it is today!
We would like to welcome all our new members to the league! We are so glad you chose us! If there is anything you need please don't hesitate to ask any of the staff. We are here to make your game and tour time a pleasant and relaxing one.
With our new page we have new backdoors. If you click on the backdoor candy heart with the name of the game on it, it will take you to another room. In that room you will see the rules for the game you have chosen and a screen shot of how the rules are to be set for that game. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask the host at the time of the tour. It would help out a lot if you went through that page first so you have some idea of what and how to play the game.
When you are ready to go on into the tour room of the game you chose, under the heading of the game you will find a box that says “play now”. Click that button and it will take you into the correct room for the tour. Again, if you have any questions, or the button does not work, please let Lee (Huddlee) Chris (Wolfcub3) or Keylalah know. They will assist you and check out the buttons to be sure they are set correctly.
We are a league of love, caring, sharing, helping, and understanding. So please do not fear to come to one of the staff, or Sandy (Mrsbmisty) who is the Room Liaison, and we will help you.
Also, where the rooms are concerned, from the backdoor, to the room you have chosen, there is, on the right hand side of that room a list of all the games we play AND there is a “Contact Us” which you can click on and it will pull up an email that you can send your questions or concerns to which is a secure and confidential way of contacting us. The only ones who will see your email will be Lee, Chris, and Key – the HAs of the League. Otherwise, if you have a complaint, please send an email to Chris (Wolfcub3) who is the complaints department, and he will make sure your problem is heard and will do all he can to fix the situation.
Please, if you are registered for a tour and are not able to show, let a staff member know BEFORE the tour begins if at all possible, or remove your name from the register. To remove your name, go in like you are going to check-in for a tour - to the tour page – and when you put in your information it will ask if you want to withdraw – you check yes and it will take you out of the tour. Any questions, please talk to Lee, Chris, or Key. Doing this helps in two ways: 1) the host does not wait for you to show and 2) you do not get charged bux for the game. Thanks for your help in this situation.

February, as we all know, is the shortest month of the year. But did you know it is one of the busiest months of the year?
February has 28 days, and every 4th year it has 29 days. This special year is called Leap Year. Leap Year consists of 366 days. Why do we need an extra day every 4 years? Leap Year keeps our calendar in alignment with the Earth's revolutions around the Sun. If we did not add this day, we would lose almost 6 hours each year. In 100 years we would have lost approximately 24 days!
Did you know.....This special day is called Sadie Hawkins Day! You ask, who was Sadie Hawkins...she was a female character in the Al Capp comic Strip “Li'l Abner. Here is what I found out:
In Li'l Abner, Sadie Hawkins was the daughter of one of Dogpatch's earliest settlers, Hekzebiah Hawkins. The "homeliest gal in all them hills", she grew frantic waiting for suitors to come a-courtin'. When she reached the age of 35, still a spinster, her father was even more frantic—about Sadie living at home for the rest of his life. In desperation, he called together all the unmarried men of Dogpatch and declared it "Sadie Hawkins Day". Specifically, a foot race was decreed, with Sadie in hot pursuit of the town's eligible bachelors—and matrimony as the consequence.
"When ah fires [my gun], all o' yo' kin start a-runnin! When ah fires agin—after givin' yo' a fair start—Sadie starts a runnin'. Th' one she ketches'll be her husbin." The town spinsters decided that this was such a good idea, they made Sadie Hawkins Day a mandatory yearly event, much to the chagrin of Dogpatch bachelors. In the satirical spirit that drove the strip, many sequences revolved around the dreaded Sadie Hawkins Day race. If a woman caught a bachelor and dragged him, kicking and screaming, across the finish line before sundown—by law he had to marry her!
Another event for February is Groundhog Day! This eventful day is on February 2nd. The tradition is always celebrated both as a folk lore and a weather lore predicting when Spring will arrive. Groundhog Day started in America among the Pennsylvania German communities in the 18th and 19th centuries as a traditional celebration to predict the beginning of spring.
The legendary name of the groundhog that is always watched and celebrated each year is Punxsutawney Phil. On this day of February 2nd, Phil awakes out of hibernation and decides to take a trip out his den hole to see the world. If, when he gets outside in the sunshine of the day, he sees his shadow, he gets scared and runs back in his hole...and winter will last for six more weeks. But, if Phil does not see his shadow due to the rain and clouds, he will remain outside and begin to eat to replenish his body from a very long, almost dead, state of hibernation, and spring will come early. Believe it or not, many people throughout the United States and Canada make this tradition a time of much celebrating, food, drink, crafts, pictures and a full 3-4 days of enjoyment.
On the 12th of February comes Abraham Lincoln's Birthday. This man is remembered for his distinctively human and humane personality and historical role as savior of the Union and emancipator of the slaves. He was an honest and loyal man who became our 16th President of the United States.
Another Birthday is on the 22nd of February. George Washington – the first President of the United States of America. He is noted as the Father of this country and for the crucial role in the fighting for, creating and leading the United States of America in its earliest days. He is also noted for chopping down his father's tree and telling the truth –
“Father I can not tell a lie, I chopped down the Cherry tree”.
This year, on George Washington's birthday, Ash Wednesday is celebrated. Ash Wednesday, in the calendar of Western Christianity, is the first day of Lent and occurs 46 days before Easter. It is a movable fast, falling on a different date each year because it is dependent on the date of Easter. It can occur as early as February 4th or as late as March 10th.
According to the gospels of Mathew, Mark and Luke, Jesus spent forty days fasting in the desert before the beginning of his public ministry, during which he endured temptation by satan. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this forty day liturgical period of prayer and fasting.
Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. The ashes used are typically gathered after the palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday are burned.
We have a day off work and school with Presidents Day! A celebration to recognize all the presidents of the United States......or is it? Go to
and find out the truth!
February is considered HEART MONTH
February is heart disease awareness month and has been since 1963. Heart disease is the number one killer among women and has been named the number one disability among women. For many women, heart disease goes undetected until it is too late. According to the American Heart Association “more women die of cardiovascular disease than from the next four causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer.” Most heart-related issues could be prevented if women took the necessary steps to not only educate themselves and their families but take steps in preventing it through diet, exercise and smoking cessation.
Last but not least, we have Valentine's Day! This is a day to celebrate Love between two people, both the older and younger generations and Love between friends. A time to show your love and compassion for others through Valentine Cards, Candy, and Flowers, a candlelight Dinner and Romantic Music. So many ways to share this day with the ones you love and care for!
Something so small as February carries such a tremendous meaning to us all!
God Bless and Happy Valentine's Day!
